Day 14 - Love the Rose in Spite of the Thorns- Daily Inspirational Verses from Real Life

Galatians 6:1 - (NIV1984)
"Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted."

There is this church in my area that is so cult like that it ends up in the news and in the courts, right down to deprogramming people being sent into the group to extract other peoples teen age and young adult children.  When they get them out, the reports are very scary.  Stolen money, forced labor. Scary.

Anyway, yesterday on the Internet I saw a post about someone I knew who was in this new church, when he was in my churches youth group, and it had hit the news.  Made me ill, since he is someone I know and love in Christ.  The comments on the article, both from Christians and non Christians alike, were all over the top condemning of this currently confused brother.  I understood the doctrine issues, and I agree with them, but it made me feel uncomfortable.  I knew this guy.  I knew this guy in Jesus.

Five minutes later, I saw a post from his former Youth Pastor, who now lives on the other side of the country as a Sr. Pastor.  His first sentence was about how we should pray for this person, and extend the hand of love to him, because he was lost at the moment, and in need of the Holy Spirit.

The pastor never said that what he was doing was acceptable, but rather the opposite.  Yet his first and last thought was for Love of the lost brother.  This pastor has Jesus in him.

You see, we each have thorns, but Jesus asks us to love the rose in each of us, and avoid the thorns.  That is our calling.

If you can love others because of the rose in them, you and others can love YOUR rose too.
